5 Things That Motivate Me
Updated: Feb 2
“No means Go.”
When someone tells me no, it is like an inner challenge. It is a personal motivator to me when someone tells me I can’t do something, I want to prove that it is doable, not only to prove them wrong but because I want to push the boundaries of what I know I can do.
The things I do, I do for myself, not in a selfish manner, but because I want to be proud of who I am and who I’ve become. For me living well is about my confidence, my self-image, and my health. These things give me the ability to be happy and content with who I am. When you look good and feel good, that energy and confidence can be contagious.
Being accountable to myself gets me to the gym, to work, and to show up for myself and for others. There is nothing more important to me than being accountable for my own life. To me, accountability means honesty which equals freedom.
To me, fashion can get people out of a rut. I say “dress up and show up”. Being in your track pants is great at home or at the gym, but isn’t it nice when you get a compliment from someone who noticed the effort that you put into your look. Stepping up your look can get you further than you might think, there’s an old saying “you never get a second chance to make a first impression” - Oscar Wilde.
The hardest thing about fitness for myself was getting motivated to simply do the workout. I have always been active, so why was this so difficult? It came back to me wanting to be my best self, both physically and mentally. I stopped making excuses and started to take accountability. If I can sit on my phone for an hour, why can’t I work out for an hour? Making fitness a priority in my life was imperative and once I did this everything else came easily. Are there still days that I don’t want to go, of course there are, but these are the days that I feel the best when I’m done.
