Fitness...for better or worse
Body image is a personal thing. It doesn’t matter what size you are or how long it’s been since you last exercised. Some people will always make excuses for not exercising. We all need to be motivated, even the true workout gurus have days where they don’t want to work out. I know I have days where I don’t feel motivated but I still try to get out there and do it.
Once you start working out on a regular basis you will begin to see that it affects the mind as well as the body. You don’t need a gym membership to work out, you can start at home, go for walks, do something that gets you moving, etc. I do not have a gym membership, but I do have the luxury of having access to a gym where I live. People often think that if they join a gym they will feel forced to go, but it doesn’t work like that. Without accountability and motivation, you could have access to the best gyms in the world and you still wouldn’t go. Finding your motivation is key. I go to the gym three times a week. I push myself to go, even on the days that I don’t want to go.
I suffered a knee injury years ago from kickboxing. After eight weeks of no workouts, it would have been very easy to continue to do nothing. Once I had my doctor’s clearance I started to do high-intensity interval training at home for ten minutes a day. I had to get a new mindset, or in my case reset it, and that’s what I did! I started to pick up boxing, pilates and working out at a gym to keep myself active. When I started to see the subtle changes in my body, I began to feel motivated and continued on to where I am today in my fitness journey. My health, both physical and mental, was better overall. I then started to eat the foods that were conducive to helping me maintain the goals I had set for myself. All of these things will spill over into other areas of your life. As confidence grows in one area, like fitness, it then becomes prevalent in every aspect or area of your life.
