Get Up, Dress Up, and Show Up
Most people want to know how to begin the process of fixing themselves. Life is strange and we often get complacent, leading us to sit back and not put in any effort. Why do we do this? I cannot give you an exact answer, but I believe that we should all follow the saying “get up, dress up, and show up”. Even these seemingly little words can have a huge impact.
Think about it for a moment, I mean really think about it. If you get up every day and head out the door you’ve accomplished the first two steps. The third step is merely showing up, whether that be showing up to the gym, to work, or to meet up with friends.
Now, what if you stopped and thought about how you feel. Did you make an effort to prepare yourself for whatever you have to do that day? Did you make time to do your hair, dress appropriately, and remember everything you need while still making sure you were on time?
These three rules are easy, but was the effort there? If not, you need to remember to put in the effort. It will make you feel better inside and out and each and every tiny change in your mindset is one huge step towards improving your accountability. Why is this so important? It is important because we need accountability in order to motivate ourselves to be and do better. Furthermore, accountability can reveal what we’ve always wanted ourselves to be and imagined ourselves to be.
Try to envision what your life would be if everything you’ve imagined becomes a reality. You have it in you, you just need to know where to find it and how to use what you have had all along.
Best as always,
