How come some of the simplest things in life throw us off? I don’t know why it happens, it just does. Life is busy and we can all get caught up in trying to make everything perfect for others, so much so that it can often lead to us forgetting about ourselves. We need to refocus and start to prioritize ourselves, but what does that look like? It will be different for each person. We can often spend an hour or more a day on our phones scrolling through social media liking posts about fashion, fitness, beauty, etc. What if we tried scrolling through social media while on a treadmill? Or we could spend our time doing other things like going for a walk, working out at home, etc. If you can keep up with this you will begin to find yourself craving exercise and your mind will thank you as well. It is hard to get motivated to do these things in the first place. I have steps I take in my daily life to help myself get motivated and to make my life better, and I call them the “So Basic” rules. If image is your problem, you could use that hour or so you would usually spend on social media to pick out an outfit you feel confident in and to get dressed nicely before you head out the door. You could spend some time the day before organizing a nice outfit to make your morning easier. It always feels great to get dressed up and show up. Doing that for yourself does not require much time, sometimes it can take as little as 10 minutes.
All of these “So Basic” rules are simple tricks that can help you to build or rebuild your confidence. They can also help you to accomplish, continue, and be accountable for yours goals. These rules are “so basic” that you can easily do them. As a life coach, I want to help you achieve your passions and help you on the road to success, in whatever form that may mean to you. I take time out of my day to workout or to get dressed up to go out running errands. I put on a little blush, lip gloss, and mascara and I immediately feel more motivated to get things done. These may seem like little “basic” things but trust me, they are well worth it. You deserve to take that time for yourself and I hope this inspires you to do so. Until next time, SG
